Fall is my favorite time of the year. From the leaves changing colors, apple picking, the smell of wood burning, curling up with a quality book while snuggled up in a cozy blanket, to sleeping with the windows open with the crisp cool air that's not yet too cold to have on any heat indoors makes me feel so invigorated and refreshed. It also happens to be harvest season- where the fruits of our labor finally pay off so that's a huge added bonus.
The start of Fall, on September 22nd, is when there are equal hours of lightness and darkness, the perfect equilibrium of yin and yang, making this the ideal time for us to balance ourselves, give gratitude, and get our zen on. The Autumnal Equinox not only signifies the change in seasons, but that with each passing day, we enter deeper into the depths of darkness. While most of us have a fear of the darkness and have an adoration for the light, this is the perfect time to embrace that darkness within you so that you can balance yourself- to find that neutrality within duality. Without darkness, there would be no light so this should be taken as an opportunity to travel within yourself to find a better improved version of you. It's the transitional period that we can utilize to our advantageous benefit by de-cluttering and purging what no longer has any room in our lives. Stripping away everything the way a tree sheds it leaves until it's stripped naked makes this the ideal opportunity to re-calibrate mind, body, and soul. In due time, newness appears.
